23-year-old Esther Ita was convicted of child trafficking by The National Agency For Prohibition Of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) for two-year imprisonment
The alleged suspect who pleaded guilty in court to a one-count charge sold a baby immediately after birth to Princess Tonymass who is still not in confinement. the committed act is contrary to section 21 of The NAPTIP (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2015.
Justice M. I. Sanni, when passing judgment at the Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, against such an act sentenced her to 2 years imprisonment with an option of a fine to the tune of N400,000.00
The Director-General of NAPTIP, Dame Julie Okah-Donli praise the investigators and prosecutors as well as the judiciary for prompt judgment delivery.
