Cece Yara Foundation To Stop Child Abuse

The  Cece Yara Foundation, set up to address to child sexual abuse cases, has made a public declaration about a Safe Kids Programme (SKAP) in Lagos State to enable children to recognize and report sexual abuse, it will also teach them on how to stay safe.

However, Safe Kids Awareness Programme to empower children against sexual abuse became necessary based on Violence Against Children Survey carried out by the National Population Commission in 2014, which revealed that one in four girls and one in 10 boys experience sexual violence before they reach the age of 18.

Cece Yara foundation founder trustee,  Bola Tinubu, any child who has been taught on how to prevent sexual abuse will be able to tell an adult if they perceive any treat. “The programme is based on the PANTS Rule licensed to the Cece Yara Foundation by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NCPCC) based in the UK, also reformatted cartoon with Nigerian characters and references licensed to the foundation by ChildLine India. The program provides age-targeted training for children aged 5-7, 8-11, and 12-15 and includes teaching the children about physically stopping attempted abuse using power assertiveness.” She said
